What is Summer Sail Week?

One week, floating off the coast of Croatia on a 40ft yacht with you and your mates; it's the dream! The best bit: you don't even have to know how to sail!

Up to 10 people on a self skippered boat or up to 9 if you need a Summer Sail Week Skipper.

We sail around with about 10 other boats all filled with students from other unis.

By day (what you tell your granny) we sail, tan, swim, and explore the islands and; and by night we have boat parties, beach parties and go clubbing ashore under the wide Croatia night sky.

Price includes charter of your boat, and the help and coordination of Summer Sail Week reps who pass on exclusive social deals and show us the best places to eat, drink and party!

NOTE: Price doesn’t include flights and transfers but if you book early enough it's easy to find cheap returns! Food and drink is excluded as well but that’s also cheap as CHIPS (if you’ll pardon the pun).

Basic membership to UBSC is also required (details below).

A Summary of our 2022 Trip!

54 members of the greatest sailing club on earth descended on the historic port of Trogir. Despite the airlines best efforts to prevent it, all arrived in time to start the most well organised holiday ever.

The first night began with a poor showing from the on duty committee members, one retiring to bed at 9 and the other two causing all the problems themselves. While some could sail, meaning they enjoyed Croatia’s beauty, others took all 8 hours to travel the 16nm to Supetar, despite not stopping.

The second night commenced at the first of many beach bars. Increasingly angry demands for ABBA to be played by the more passionate guests ensured the night steered in the right direction, resulting in skinny dipping at 2am.

The third days sailing to Lantina Beach had a stop for lunch in a cove, with only minor trespassing. That evening, the inner vandal emerged in even the finest sailors. Wheels were hoisted, canopies submerged, and La Rocca shirts stolen.

Thanks to @reuben.beard for demonstrating some excellent and necessary diving skills at 1am.

With no wind in the morning, the opportunity to fly out the water on halliards was used, while others embraced their inner nudist on the beach. A dinner out in Bol preceded the white-out night at a tiki-style bar.

Next was Vis, the furthest island from the Croatian coast. A windy days sailing lead to rafting outside an old submarine base, with the festivities involving a choose-your-theme night with Bongo Bingo.

The journey to Palmizana was aided by a strong breeze the whole way. Immaculate manoeuvring and captainship from Will Caiger was the highlight of the day, with a wrapped prop and some holes in the bow as a result. With the last water taxi back to the marina at 2am, some nobly decided to remain in Hvar until 8, inside the famous Carpe Diem

With the weeks damage including; only four bouts of food poisoning, two tetanus shots, three phones, a bow, a prop, a tender, a steering wheel, many flags, a finger, anemone spikes, and everyone’s bank accounts. It qualified as nothing less than a complete success.
